Composite insulator is widely used in new high-voltage transmission lines and the transformation of the old grid. However, the framework of composite insulators - glass fiber is brittle when it meets water. In the process of producing composite insulators, connections between hardware fitting and mandrel adopt advanced press-fit technology with a good sealing effect. It makes the hardware fitting’s structure simple and simplifies the processing of sub- hardware fitting. It does not undermine the mandrel with high effectiveness and low production cost.

In addition, our company develops the mechatronic system to detect and control the whole operation by monitoring computer. It can be judged automatically that if there is a core bar being damaged in every press procedure, as well as the press quality is shown in the intuitive way of sound and color. The data of parameters, figures and distinguish result can be restored, replayed and printed for each time of the pressing. We produce press-fit machines using the constant pressure method, so it has many advantages, such as easy operation, high production efficiency and high rate of production costs. The error of hardware fitting’s dimension has little effect on press-fit volume. The machine has small energy-consuming and a long maintenance cycle.

Principle of work:

There are eight cylinders distributed in the press. Main die block is located on the every cylinder. Under the action of the hydraulic piston, after a few seconds, hardware fitting will be deformed, and strong pressure on the mandrel will be translated into a combination of hardware components and mandrel surface friction in order to achieve the necessary mechanical strength.The great strong pressure make sure the good sealing performance between the hardware fitting and mandrel.

Working principle of detection and control system

Non-destructive detection system adopts the principle of acoustic emission detection. The launch sensor is located on the press-fit tooling. When the mandrel is broken, signals received by the sensor will send into monitoring computer signal processing system after the signals is enlarged by pre-amplifier and main amplifier .A powerful signal processor in the system will process the signals, it adopts spectrum analyzer to recognize modes. This system displays signal waveforms real-timely ,outputs alarm signals to realize sound and light alarm and stop press-fit process.
